Values are ± SD of the mean, and (n) shows the number of independent measurements. pH values are shown in total scale (pHT), and AT represents total alkalinity (µmol kg− 1). pHT and AT were used along with temperature (Temp) and salinity in the R package ‘seacarb’ to produce carbonate chemistry data (HCO3−, CO32−, DIC, pCO2, and Ωarag). Mesocosms were naturally fed seawater from the reef in Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi, and to avoid swings in mid-day productivity, the flume environment used seawater from the mesocosms in the morning.
