Fig. 2

Volcano plot of differentially expressed TEs (DETEs) between test vs. control for liver samples. The top row shows significant (red) and non-significant (light grey) TEs. In the second row TEs are represented as color-codes by typology (DNA transposons in blue, LINE retrotransposons in coral, LTR retrotransposons in grey, SINE retrotransposons in yellow, Retro in purple, non-LTR retrotransposons in cyan, and unknown in green). Subsequent rows are related to single TE classes. “Unknown” means TEs that are not specifically classified as DNA transposons, LINE, SINE, and LTR retrotransposons; “non-LTR” retrotransposons are referred to retrotransposons that are not specifically classified as LINE or SINE retrotransposons; “Retro” is referred to retrotransposons that are not specifically classified as LINE, SINE, LTR or non-LTR retrotransposons. The blue dashed lines indicate the significant thresholds for Log2 Fold Change >|2|, while the red dashed the statistically significant threshold (p-adj < = 0.05). Light grey plots indicate comparisons for which no DETEs were identified.
