Sources: Census Pulse Survey, AEI Return-to-Learn, and Opportunity Insights Economic Tracker. “Is Homeschooling” refers to whether or not the Pulse respondent reported homeschooling their children. “Remote Share” is the share of school districts in the respondent’s state delivering only remote education in a given month (ranges 0–1). “Demographic Controls” include marital status, number of household children, work loss, race, and income. COVID case/death rates are logged measured of confirmed COVID-19 cases/deaths per 100,000 people in each state during the month before. “Right-to-Work” is an indicator for whether the respondent’s state is a right-to-work state. “Union Strength” is a logged measure of the strength of teachers’ unions in a given state. Reported standard errors are clustered at the state level.
