Analysis of in vivo toxicity of MLs. Representative microphotographs of the histopathological lesions induced in the in vivo toxicity analysis in mice. We observed in the MLC group (liposome+nanoparticles+CDDP) scant acute tubular necrosis, and mild tubular dilation and nuclear dysplasia (arrow) in kidney; diffuse macrovacuolar steatosis (arrows), and moderate chronic inflammatory infiltrate (asterisk) in liver; no injury was detected in lung. In the ML-treated mice (liposome+magnetic nanoparticles) no tissue damage was detected, except a scant intraparenchymal inflammatory infiltrate in liver (asterisk) in some mice. Animals received weekly injections i.p. and 5 mice per group were analyzed at day 35. Hematoxylin-eosin, original magnification 10x. Bar scale: 100 micrometers.
