It indicates that the Penan community uses twigs and leaves to form specific signals that carry certain messages. The symbol of two twigs of the same length indicates the presence of a team/ one/ friend/ family (non-enemies) while in the forest. The two twigs placed on top of the folded leaves indicate hunger signals to non-enemies (friends, family, acquaintances). While the combination of the symbol of a leaf pricked by a small twig, then inserted with a tree branch carries the meaning that the individual has obtained the hunted animal (wild boar or other foods) in this straight direction.
