The bar chart in Fig. 3 depicts interpreters’ attention allocation between observing the speaker’s facial expressions and consulting live transcription during interpretation tasks. A majority of 8 out of 13 participants watched the speaker’s facial expressions, while 10 managed to integrate both facial cues and transcription without conflict. Conversely, 3 participants struggled with this multitasking. The chart further shows that 11 participants predominantly focused on live transcription, with only 2 favouring facial expressions.
