The authors have retracted this article due to an error in Equation 1. This error affects the prediction skill presented for this model, making it incomparable to that computed by state-of-the-art climate models for Madden–Julian oscillation prediction. When recalculated using Equation 1 in the same manner as other models in the literature, the prediction skill for this model is significantly lower than presented in this paper. This issue is discussed in greater detail in a Comment article1.
