Although inbred mice are near genetic clones of one another, elements of individuality can nevertheless arise. A given mouse will respond differently to stimuli; enriched environments can enhance this effect, but how persistent individualized behaviors remain over time, as well as the underlying drivers that shape the phenomena, have been unclear.
