The Hik26 is a histidine kinase in response to HL stress. The mutation (T29K) of Hik26 in the Tol strain may activate the histidine kinase activity. The Hik26 induces the expression of genes including isiA through a response regulator. The IsiA contributes to protect the membrane proteins from the oxidative stress caused by HL conditions, and involves in light state transition from PSII to PSI.
