2-Methoxycarbonyl-1,3a,6a-triazapentalene 4 was successfully converted into vinyl ketone 2a by sequential reactions consisting of hydrolysis, a condensation with the Weinreb amine, and a nucleophilic addition of isobutenyl magnesium bromide.
