a Average zeta potential obtained for silica particles (1.5 mg/mL) grown at different mole ratios. Samples were measured thrice (n = 3) in 22 mM polyamine solution (error bars represent standard deviation). b Normalized TGA curves of silica particles grown at increasing zTEOS_1C2N6 mole ratio obtained by heating the samples in air. Samples were heated from RT to 1000 °C at 20 °C/min. Sample weight-loss was normalized from 160 °C to account for loss of adsorbed water.
