Top: Molar ratio of O2 guest per H2O molecule in the water lattices. Occupancy is based on Rietveld refinement. ‘G1’ is the smaller of the two CS-II cages and ‘G2’ the larger, with the total oxygen concentration being their sum. Literature points on the CS-II clathrate are from Chazallon et al.19 in red and Tse et al.18 in blue. Bottom: Density of oxygen hydrates vs pressure. Uncertainty in density mainly arises from uncertainty in guest occupancy. Error bars are one standard deviation. Volume per water molecule and c/a ratios are reported in the Supplementary Fig. S1.
