These cofactors display an adenosine-based handle (red) connected to a functional part that determines the role of these cofactors in metabolism (black): Electron/hydride transfer, methyl transfer or acetyl-transfer. In purple, the function-associated half of nicotinamide dinucleotide (NAD) is highlighted: nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN).
