a, Expression of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (orange) and DNA (grey) in autopsy tissue from 3 patients with confirmed RT-qPCR+ for SARS-CoV-2 in the respiratory tract (during clinical course) and in the liver (at autopsy). Based on anatomical locations, these findings suggest expression of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in Kupffer cells, immune cells, and hepatocytes. Scale bar represents 10um.
