The middle panels show the model results along the profiles, where distance is in degrees, depth is in kilometers, and VS are relative to the AK135 global average Earth model52. The bottom panels are our best-fit synthetic resolution test results, which are plotted in a similar manner to the middle panels, but the thin black lines denote the vertical grid used in the inversion. Roman numerals denote anomalies discussed in the text. The dashed line in (b) marks the interpreted base of the WSB lithospheric lid.
