The electricity demand for CDR is predominantly attributable to DACCS technology, with the highest demand observed under the 1.5 °C_HIGH scenario. Notably, the regions with the highest DACCS deployment, such as the US and China (Supplementary Fig. 8b), do not necessarily allocate disproportionately large shares of their electricity to CO2 removal. South America and Australia appear more susceptible to higher relative electricity consumption for this purpose.
