Time traces of the SPAD output signal were acquired over a duration of 0.1 ms for 500 times for each set of measurements. A total of 25,000 light pulses, each with < 1 photon per pulse, were applied. The output signals were low-pass filtered (<3 MHz) and inserted into time windows, each spanning 500 ns. The classification of individual avalanche pulses as photon and dark counts was determined based on their temporal position within these windows.
