This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3 Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Microfluidics is driving a new era of innovation in biosensing, biofabrication, and microscale chemical and biochemical processing.

Wearable and biofluid handling microfluidic platforms are redefining real time health biosensing by enabling continuous, non invasive sampling and quantitative analysis of biofluids, thereby expanding both the scope and accuracy of point of care diagnostics.

In biofabrication, 3D bioprinting and droplet based microfluidics have emerged as powerful tools for producing systems with finely tunable spatial and physicochemical properties, supporting applications in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and the creation of advanced biomaterials.

In parallel, high performance microreactors offer biologically grounded, high throughput platforms for compartmentalization, controlled reaction environments, and screening, enabling new paradigms in biochemical process modeling and microscale reaction engineering.

By integrating innovations in wearable and biofluid‑sampling systems, diagnostics, high‑throughput droplet methodologies, and microfluidic platforms for advanced biomaterials and biofabrication, alongside emerging compartmentalized biochemical approaches, this Collection aims to highlight the expanding capabilities of microfluidics in probing, manipulating, and engineering biological systems across scales.

This Collection is open for submissions from all authors – and not by invitation only – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and the participating journals more generally.

All manuscripts will be considered for publication according to the editorial policies of the specific participating journal through which they are submitted. Visit Nature Portfolio’s Collections guidelines for more details.
