Editorials in 2025

Amid continuous innovation in sequencing and gene-editing technologies combined with enhanced understanding of RNA biology, there has been an increase in RNA-based technologies for the treatment of a wide array of diseases. We discuss some recent work in the field, highlighting the RNA biology and RNA-based applications to medicine collection, which showcases the versatility of RNA for filling numerous gaps in disease treatment and detection.

On June 30, 2021, Communications Medicine published its first article. What began as a bold vision - to create an open-access journal that bridges translational, clinical, and public health research - has since grown into a global platform for high-quality research that advances our understanding, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. As we celebrate our fourth anniversary, we take this moment to look back on the journey and envision the path forward.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health challenge that requires cross-disciplinary collaboration to mitigate its impact on human health. We discuss some of the topical advances in the field, highlighting the AMR collection, which brings attention to the problem of AMR and suboptimal antimicrobial use in human medicine.
