Submit a news pitch
Do you have a story idea for Nature India’s news team? We’d like to hear from you.
A strong pitch should clearly articulate the core news point, highlight its significance for Nature India’s audience, and address the crucial ‘why now’ and ‘so what’ questions. Your pitch should reflect the news story, not a broad topic. We accept India-focused ideas. The keywords to keep in mind are ‘India’, ‘science’ and ‘news’.
Our news stories typically range from 600 to 800 words, with suggestion for visual material (pictures, infographics, videos etc.). News features are between 800 and 1200 words.
What we look for in a strong pitch:
- A working headline where possible.
- A standfirst of 50 words with the key news point.
- A brief explanation of your story within 100 words that clarifies why it must be told now and what makes it relevant for our audience.
- Links to research papers or evidence on which the pitch is based, your interview plans, and a list of specific sources you would rely on.
- A clear timeline.
