About the Editors

Chief Editor | Clare Davis, PhD, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD (she/her/hers)

Clare joined Nature Reviews Earth & Environment in April 2024 and became Chief Editor in September 2025. She brings editorial experience from Nature Geoscience, Communications Earth & Environment and Scientific Reports. After receiving her MSc in marine sciences from the University of Plymouth, she completed her doctoral research on the marine phosphorus cycle at the University of Liverpool. Her postdoctoral research at the University of Liverpool and the University of Hawai’i investigated the biogeochemistry of the North Atlantic, focusing on nutrient limitation of ocean productivity. Clare is primarily responsible for articles that fall within the surface processes sector of the journal.

Senior Editor | Erin Scott, PhD, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD (she/her/hers)

Erin joined Nature Reviews Earth & Environment in September 2020, bringing editorial experience from Nature Communications where she handled manuscripts in geochemistry, geodynamics, geomorphology and tectonics. She completed her PhD at Durham University, UK, where her research focused on the uplift and tectonics of the Andean mountain belt, particularly by tracking changes in the geochemistry of Andean magmatism over time. Erin is mainly responsible for the Solid Earth content of the journal.

Associate Editor | Zhongxuan Li, PhD, Springer Nature, UK, ORCiD (she/her/hers)

Zhongxuan joined Nature Reviews Earth & Environment in January 2025. She completed her first PhD in biogeochemistry at the China University of Geosciences, Beijing, before undertaking further doctoral research in paleoclimatology at Macquarie University, Australia. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Durham University, UK, investigating palaeoclimate shifts in Antarctica over the past 50,000 years.

Zhongxuan is based in Shanghai, China.
