The journal will feature pioneering research across the full spectrum of sensing technologies, with contributions from leading scientists, engineers, and industry experts. Covering a wide range of topics — from the development of fundamental sensor materials and devices to the design of applied systems and engineering solutions — Nature Sensors will address key challenges and innovations in sectors such as healthcare, environmental monitoring, smart technologies, and beyond. Nature Sensors seeks to advance the field by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and highlighting transformative research with significant societal impact.

All editorial decisions are made by a team of full-time professional editors, ensuring a fair, rigorous, and transparent peer-review process. Nature Sensors aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, accelerate technological advancements, and highlight transformative research with significant real-world impact.

Aims & scope

Nature Sensors publishes cutting-edge research across all areas of sensing technologies, from novel materials and devices to sensor systems and applications. The journal focuses on technological advancements in sensor design, materials, and data analytics, with an emphasis on their societal impact. It fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to address challenges in  healthcare, environmental monitoring, and smart technologies. Nature Sensors is defined by a rigorous peer-review process, rapid publication, and editorial independence, offering both primary research and expert analyses.

Online publication

Nature Sensors is an exclusively online publication. Articles are published using an Advanced Online Publication process, giving our authors an earlier publication date and allowing our readers to access papers several weeks before they appear in a specific issue. Note that papers published online are definitive and may be altered only through the publication of an Addendum or Correction, so authors should make every effort to ensure that the page proofs are correct.

Content types

We publish a range of content types (link), including Article, Analysis, News & Views, Review, Perspective, Comment, Lab to Fab, Matters Arising, Feature, and Correspondence, that elaborate on significant advances in the field and cover topical issues.
