Electrochemical selective hydrocarboxylation of acrylamides with carbon dioxide for precise control of α- and β-carboxylation

While hydrocarboxylation of acrylates with CO2 has been extensively explored, acrylamides remain under-investigated due to their lower electron cloud density. Here, the authors present an electrochemical method for selective hydrocarboxylation of acrylamides, achieving α- and β-carboxylation under mild conditions with high regioselectivity and broad substrate scope.

Full polarization control of photons is achieved using coupled nanobeam cavities, in which the ultra-subwavelength gap results in the evanescent wave coupling and introduces non-Hermitian effects.

Arabidopsis RBV is a conserved WD40 repeat protein that promotes microRNA biogenesis and ARGONAUTE1 loading

MicroRNAs regulate gene expression through RNA cleavage or translation repression. Here the authors show that RBV, an evolutionarily conserved WD40 domain protein, acts to promote MIR transcription, pri-miRNA processing and miRNA loading into AGO1.

Structural and biochemical insights into small RNA 3′ end trimming by Arabidopsis SDN1

Small RNA degrading nucleases (SDNs) can degrade short RNAs. Here the authors report the crystal structure of Arabidopsis SDN1 in complex with a single-stranded RNA, and provide new insight into 3′ end trimming mechanism of 3′ to 5′ riboexonucleases in the metabolism of various species of small RNAs.
