Organic electrode materials are attractive for sustainable batteries but are often limited by poor charge transport. Here, authors demonstrate that a universal thiourea coupling strategy enhances both electron and proton transport in quinone electrodes, enabling stable operation of aqueous zinc batteries under practical conditions.
