In Taxol biosynthesis, the steps leading up to the intermediate baccatin III are understood, however, the final steps remain elusive. Here elucidation of the final steps of Taxol biosynthesis enables the reconstruction of the pathway in yeast and the synthesis of Taxol from baccatin III, paving the way for the biotechnological production of Taxol.
