Adsorption-responsive bionic photothermal ion pump for reversible seawater lithium extraction

Seawater lithium extraction represents an innovative transformative solution that could alleviate future lithium supply concerns. In response, we propose an Albizia julibrissin-inspired adsorption-responsive photothermal ion pump for enhanced and reversible Li+ extraction from seawater.

The ESCRT-III and Vps4 complexes mediate a variety of membrane remodelling events. Here the authors describe the structure of the Vps4 hexamer complexed to its cofactor Vta1, and show that Vta1 bridges adjacent Vps4 subunits to promote formation of the active hexamer during ESCRT-III filament disassembly.

A distinctive ligand recognition mechanism by the human vasoactive intestinal polypeptide receptor 2

Vasoactive intestinal polypeptide receptor 2 (VIP2R) is involved in immunity. Here, the authors report two cryo-EM structures of the VIP2R–G_s in complex with the endogenous peptide ligand PACAP27, revealing a unique interaction mode between PACAP27 and the receptor, stabilized by the N-terminal α-helix of VIP2R.
