Multiferroicity in atomic van der Waals heterostructures

Low dimensional multiferroic materials promise the technological advances in next generation spintronic and microwave magnetoelectric devices. Here the authors propose the multiferroicity in the atomically thin ferromagnetic Cr2Ge2Te6/ferroelectric In2Se3 van der Waals heterostructure due to the crosslayer magnetoelectric coupling.

Rational synthesis of dual-atom catalysts for optimized thermochemical CO₂ reduction

Bias-free solar NH₃ production by perovskite-based photocathode coupled to valorization of glycerol

Photoelectrocatalytic nitrate reduction offers an opportunity for a lower carbon route to ammonia production but has not been realized due to poor efficiency. Here an efficient modified lead halide perovskite photocathode is coupled to glycerol oxidation anode resulting in a bias-free photocurrent density greater than 20 mA cm⁻².

Conformational heterogeneity of molecules physisorbed on a gold surface at room temperature

Tip-enhanced vibrational spectroscopy at room temperature is complicated by molecular conformational dynamics, photobleaching, contaminations, and chemical reactions in air. This study demonstrates that a sub-nm protective layer of Al₂O₃ provides robust conditions for probing single-molecule conformations.

Although Pt is highly active for electrocatalytic production of H₂ from water, its cost limits its wide application. Here, the authors prepare a high-performing catalyst that is supported on graphitic tubes, containing Fe, Co and Cu, and requires only a small amount of Pt.
