Unconventional bias-dependent tunneling magnetoresistance in van der Waals ferromagnetic/semiconductor heterojunctions

The combination of a diverse selection of magnetic and semiconducting constituent materials makes van der Waals heterojunctions ideal for exploring effects associated with tunnelling magnetoresistance. Here, Zhu, Wen, Zhu, Cui, and coauthors report on a unusual bias dependence of tunnelling magnetoresistance, that they explain via a planar dependent tunnelling model.

Tunable unconventional spin orbit torque magnetization dynamics in van der Waals heterostructures

Weyl semimetals with low crystal symmetry, such as TaIrTe4, are known to host large unconventional spin-orbit torques. Here, Pandey et al combine TaIrTe4 with the van der Waals ferromagnet, Fe3GaTe2, and achieve room temperature field-free magnetization switching with an extremely low critical current density.

Kansl1 haploinsufficiency impairs autophagosome-lysosome fusion and links autophagic dysfunction with Koolen-de Vries syndrome in mice

Here the authors show that the Koolen-de Vries syndrome associated gene KANSL1 modulates autophagosome-lysosome fusion via transcriptional regulation of autophagosomal gene Syntaxin17, and that 13-cis retinoic acid can reverses mitophagic defects and neurobehavioural abnormalities of mice lacking Kansl1.

Modulation of MRSA virulence gene expression by the wall teichoic acid enzyme TarO

The two-component regulatory system VraRS regulates transcription of penicillin-binding protein 2 in response to cell wall antimicrobials. Here, Lu et al. show that an enzyme from the wall teichoic acid biosynthetic pathway of MRSA can also modulate the expression of virulence factors such as Staphylococcal protein A via VraRS.
