ε-Caprolactone is a key starting point for the preparation of many polymers, such as polycaprolactone, polyurethane and nylon-6. Here the authors show that a metal-organic framework in conjunction with oxygen and benzaldehyde can facilitate the synthesis of ε-caprolactone from ketone-alcohol oil feedstock in a cascade oxidation.
