Many polymers exhibit a complex network of cross-linking and entanglements that govern their mechanical behaviour at the macroscale. Here, using a coarse-grained model, the authors investigate the interplay between time-dependent dynamic bonds and permanent covalent bonds in polymer networks and show how network connectivity informs molecular damage patterns caused during fracture phenomena.
