Three-dimensional foldable quantum dot light-emitting diodes

Two-dimensional arrays of quantum dot light-emitting diodes can be folded into three-dimensional architectures—including a passive matrix array that can display letters and numbers—by using laser patterning and metal etch-stop layers to create folding lines.

A vacuum-deposited polymer dielectric for wafer-scale stretchable electronics

Hepcidin inhibits Smad3 phosphorylation in hepatic stellate cells by impeding ferroportin-mediated regulation of Akt

The peptide hormone hepcidin is released from hepatocytes and regulates iron homoeostasis. Here, the authors show that hepcidin also regulates the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) in mouse models of liver fibrosis by reducing ferroportin expression and inhibiting the HSC response to TGFβ.

Regulation of chitinase-3-like-1 in T cell elicits Th1 and cytotoxic responses to inhibit lung metastasis

Chitinase-3-like-1 (Chi3l1) has been involved in inflammation and pulmonary metastasis. Here the authors show that Chi3l1 inhibits the T cell response by negatively regulating their activation and that, in a mouse model of melanoma, T cell-targeted silencing of Chi3l1 results in reduced lung metastasis.
