Originally developed in spin-glass physics, replica symmetry breaking (RSB) has recently found a photonic counterpart in disordered laser systems. The study reports the first experimental observation of replica symmetry breaking (RSB) in the aperiodic pulsating regime of a standard passive mode-locked ultrafast fiber laser.
