Spermidine mediates acetylhypusination of RIPK1 to suppress diabetes onset and progression

Zhang et al. show that the activation of RIPK1 is suppressed by acetylhypusination in a spermidine-dependent manner. Disruption of this axis contributes to RIPK1-mediated vascular pathology to promote insulin resistance and diabetic kidney pathology.

Naturally-occurring spinosyn A and its derivatives function as argininosuccinate synthase activator and tumor inhibitor

Arginine addiction induced by argininosuccinate synthase (ASSN1) deficiency has been exploited to treat ASS1-deficient cancers. Here, the authors show an alternative therapeutic approach where ASS1 activity is increased by the pesticide spinosyn A and is shown to inhibit breast cancer cell proliferation.

Data-driven subtypes of polycystic ovary syndrome and their association with clinical outcomes

This study identifies four distinct polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) subtypes using unsupervised clustering analysis on data from 11,908 women and validated across five diverse cohorts. The subtypes show unique clinical features and suggest that subtype-specific management could enhance treatment precision for PCOS.

Tuning ultrafine manganese oxide nanowire synthesis seeded by Si particles and its superior Li storage behaviors

It can be found that the Mn/Si ratio is a crucial factor affecting the morphology of the as-obtained products. The pristine Si nanoparticles are sphere-like particles of ~100 nm in diameter. When the Mn/Si molar ratio is 4:1, ultrafine MnCO₃ nanowires less than 10 nm in diameter are obtained. The MnO@C nanowires were synthesized via polymerization–pyrolysis steps, and the excellent high-rate performance and stability of the MnO@C nanowires used as an anode in the lithium-ion battery are attributed to the unique interconnected nanostructure.
