Twisted trilayer transition metal dichalcogenides present complex moiré patterns that can lead to unique electronic properties not seen in bilayers. Here, the authors use a continuum approach to reveal that lattice relaxation in trilayer WSe2 results in distinct domain arrangements and band structures according to the twist configurations -" Kagome flat bands for helical trilayers or strongly confined quantum wells for alternating trilayers -" offering a versatile platform for tunable electronic and excitonic behaviors.
