Tumour- free margins at initial surgery are associated with beneficial outcomes in head and neck cancer patients and could reduce the need for adjuvant therapy, thus decreasing patient morbidity. In here, the authors show that tumour-targeting fluorescent tracer cetuximab-IRDye800CW can be used to guide fresh frozen sectioning to identify inadequate margins intraoperatively.
