Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is associated with immunometabolic stress, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Here the authors use single-cell atlas of human peripheral nerve and data from diabetic mouse models to implicate altered GLUT3, ERK and mTOR signaling and downstream dysregulated mast cell activation in DPN progression.
