Phenylpropanoids are an emerging class of bio-based aromatic monomers. Here, the authors report [2 + 2] cycloaddition polymerisations of silyl ether-linked phenylpropanoids to yield polymers capable of decomposing via Diels-Alder reactions or Si-O cleavage, enabling their chemical recycling.
