Tovar et al. use a data-driven epidemiological model for tuberculosis (TB) spreading to describe an expected rise in TB incidence and mortality due to COVID-associated disruption in TB diagnosis and treatment. Their calculations predict higher incidence and mortality due to reduced diagnosis of new TB cases, however suggest increased diagnostic capacity could mitigate this situation.
