Flexible learning requires humans to adjust their behaviour to uncertainty. While normative learning models explain many adaptive behaviours, systematic biases-arising from inaccurate assumptions or cognitive simplifications-reveal key mechanisms of learning and their potential dysfunctions in psychiatric disorders.
