Signatures of Floquet electronic steady states in graphene under continuous-wave mid-infrared irradiation

Previous investigations of Floquet states in solid state samples have been mostly based on ultrafast light excitations. Here, the authors report evidence of non-equilibrium steady states in graphene under continuous-wave mid-infrared irradiation, consistent with a long-lived Floquet phase physical picture.

Crystal structure of the Varkud satellite ribozyme

Crystal structures of the full-length VS ribozyme show a domain-swapped dimer that reveals potential mechanisms for cis and trans processing, and suggest convergent evolution in the active site motifs across multiple ribozymes.

A G-quadruplex–containing RNA activates fluorescence in a GFP-like fluorophore

Spinach is an RNA aptamer analog of GFP that is widely used for fluorescent labeling of cellular RNAs. Crystal structures of Spinach–fluorophore complexes uncover an unusual G-quadruplex RNA fold that is involved in ligand recognition and tuning of Spinach fluorescence properties.

A portable RNA sequence whose recognition by a synthetic antibody facilitates structural determination

Crystallization of RNA molecules can pose a challenge, and the U1A RNA binding protein has been used to facilitate the process. Now a different portable RNA sequence and a synthetic Fab are presented as tools for RNA structural determination. In addition to functioning as a crystallization chaperone, the Fab also serves as the search model to provide phase information.
