Harnessing the FGFR2/NF2/YAP signaling-dependent necroptosis to develop an FGFR2/IL-8 dual blockade therapeutic strategy

Necroptosis in cancer cells remains incompletely understood. Here, the authors show that inhibition of FGFR2 could induce necroptosis via crosstalk between the NF2-Hippo-YAP and RIP1-MST1-MLKL pathways and shapes an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.

Joint analysis of three genome-wide association studies of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Chinese populations

Dongxin Lin, Philip Taylor, Li-Dong Wang and colleagues have now pooled three genome-wide association analyses of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, finding two new risk loci at genome-wide significance and an HLA class II locus of significance in high-risk populations. They reanalyze the strength of evidence for previously published risk loci.

Confinement of excited states in two-dimensional, in-plane, quantum heterostructures

Here, the authors observe the lateral confinement of excitons in triangular MoSe₂ quantum dots inside a continuous matrix of monolayer WSe₂. They measure size-dependent exciton confinement in the quantum dots with low-temperature exciton blue shift, and further observe single-photon emission from the smallest dots.
