Kilohertz volumetric imaging of in vivo dynamics using squeezed light field microscopy

Squeezed light field microscopy (SLIM) combines ideas from tomography and compressed sensing with light field microscopy to enable volumetric imaging at kilohertz rates, as demonstrated in blood flow imaging in zebrafish and voltage imaging in leeches and mice.

Brain-specific angiogenesis inhibitor (BAI) is an adhesion G protein-coupled receptor that acts through the ELMO/DOCK/Rac signaling pathway. Here the authors provide molecular insights into BAI/ELMO interactions by solving the crystal structure of the C-terminal cytoplasmic tail of BAI bound to the RAE tandem domains of ELMO2.

An EGFR/HER2-targeted conjugate sensitizes gemcitabine-sensitive and resistant pancreatic cancer through different SMAD4-mediated mechanisms

Chemoresistance is a main limitation for the treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Here, the authors show that an antibody drug conjugate-like compound targeting both EGFR and HER2 overcomes gemcitabine resistance in PDAC preclinical models by mechanisms involving the tumour suppressor SMAD4.

Mast cells contribute to Enterovirus 71 infection-induced pulmonary edema in neonatal mice

Enterovirus (EV) 71 can cause of severe hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), which may lead to fatal pulmonary edema. The authors determined that mast cells contribute to pulmonary edema during EV71 infection and that specific inhibitors of mast cell degranulation may be beneficial as therapy to treat EV71 infection-induced severe HFMD.
