Large reverse saturable absorption under weak continuous incoherent light

Aromatic molecules and transition-metal complexes dispersed in hydroxyl steroidal matrices reveal efficient reverse saturable absorption when irradiated with low-power light. These materials extend the range of applications of optical limiters.

Polyfluorenes emit blue light in organic light-emitting diodes, but their colour purity is always degraded by accompanied green emission band. Single-particle electroluminescence of CsPbBr₃ perovskite nanocrystals reveals particle-selective recombination and blinking as key efficiency factors

Highly efficient blue electroluminescence based on thermally activated delayed fluorescence

Molecular design rules are defined to obtain metal-free blue-emitting organic compounds that show thermally activated delayed fluorescence with high photoluminescence efficiency. An internal electroluminescence quantum efficiency of 100% is reached.

Narrow band-edge photoluminescence from AgInS₂ semiconductor nanoparticles by the formation of amorphous III–VI semiconductor shells

Silver indium sulfide (AgInS₂) semiconductor nanoparticles are cadmium-free quantum dots emitting in visible to near infrared regions. The present study demonstrates the narrowing of their broad defect emission by coating AgInS₂ core nanoparticles with amorphous indium sulfide or gallium sulfide shells. The new emission from the core/shell nanoparticles originating from the band-edge transition is substantially narrower (FWHM of 28.6 nm) than the defect emission of core nanoparticles (FWHM of 220 nm). The photoluminescence quantum yield is increased to 56% after giving several modifications to the synthetic procedures so that we can see the vibrant yellow emission under room light.
