  • Alcanivorax borkumensis is a marine, oil-degrading bacterium. Here, the authors describe the synthesis of a cellular biosurfactant. Loss of the biosurfactant affects attachment of mutant cells to the oil–water interface, highlighting its importance for biofilm formation on oil droplets.
