Strong interaction between interlayer excitons and correlated electrons in WSe₂/WS₂ moiré superlattice

Heterobilayers of transition metal dichalcogenides host moiré superlattices that give rise to strong electron interactions. Here, the authors study the photoluminescence from interlayer excitons in a WS₂/WSe₂ heterobilayer to reveal the onset of various correlated insulating states.

Cysteine-specific protein multi-functionalization and disulfide bridging using 3-bromo-5-methylene pyrrolones

Many reagents have been developed for cysteine-specific protein modification. However, few of them allow for multi-functionalization of a single Cys residue and disulfide bridging bioconjugation. Here the authors report 3-bromo-5-methylene pyrrolones as a simple, robust and versatile class of reagents for cysteine-specific protein modification.

Excitonic insulator in a heterojunction moiré superlattice

Stacking monolayer WS₂ on top of bilayer WSe₂ creates conditions where electrons and holes can coexist in the structure. Their Coulomb interaction allows them to form bound pairs and hence an excitonic insulator state.
