3D Printing of glasses with tunable UV–VIS–IR photoluminescence via low-temperature nanoscale engineering

Here authors report 3D printed glass with tunable UV-to-IR emission. The method overcomes thermal limits, integrating various quantum dots into 3D printed complex glass structures to enable advanced photonic functionalities.

Factor IX-Padua AAV gene therapy in hemophilia B: phases 1/2 and 3 trials

Sodium disrupts mitochondrial energy metabolism to execute NECSO

This study elucidates the underlying cell death mechanism of NECSO (Necrosis by sodium overload). TRPM4-mediated sodium influx activates mitochondrial sodium–calcium exchange, which impairs mitochondrial energy production. This energy deficit inactivates the Na/K-ATPase, ultimately leading to cellular swelling and lysis.

Atomic-scale visualization of chiral charge density wave superlattices and their reversible switching

Single-layer NbSe₂ has a charge density wave with two degenerate domains, related by mirror reflection. Here, using scanning tunneling microscopy, the authors observe the time-dependent movement of domain walls, and demonstrate reversible switching between the two domain types using a voltage pulse from the microscope tip.

Repression of LSD1 potentiates homologous recombination-proficient ovarian cancer to PARP inhibitors through down-regulation of BRCA1/2 and RAD51

Here, the authors identify lysine-specific demethylase 1 is a homologous recombination (HR) regulator. Its inhibitor induces HR deficiency and sensitizes HR-proficient ovarian cancer cells to PARP inhibitors, which expand the use of PARP inhibitors.

Integrated cytokine and metabolite analysis reveals immunometabolic reprogramming in COVID-19 patients with therapeutic implications

Metabolism changes can modulate immune responses in many contexts, and vice versa. Here the authors associate metabolomic, as well as cytokine and chemokine, data from stratified COVID-19 patients to find that arginine, tryptophan and purine metabolic pathways correlate with hyperproliferation, thus hinting at potential therapeutic targets for severe COVID-19 patients.

The band structure of solid state systems can exhibit linear like dispersions resembling the Dirac equation in high-energy physics; however, the crystal structure anisotropy typically associated with solid state systems can lead to deviations from the symmetry of the original equation. Here, using Landau level spectroscopy, the authors report experimental evidence for isotropic fermions in 3D crystal structure of LaAlSi.

Neddylation inhibition has been reported as a therapy for cancer. Here, the authors show that neddylation inhibition increases glutamine metabolism by stabilizing glutamine transporter ASCT2, therefore targeting ASCT2 improves the anti-cancer effect of neddylation inhibitors.
