Ischemic injury induces a partial mesenchymal shift in endothelial cells. Here, the authors show that circATXN1 regulates angiogenesis and partial endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition by controlling SLUG mRNA methylation via ALKBH5, offering a potential therapeutic target for ischemic diseases.
