Ambipolar ohmic contact to silicon for high-performance brain-inspired image sensors

To address the challenge of large-scale integration of in-memory sensing and computing brain-inspired vision sensors, the authors propose a complementary ohmic contact configuration device model based on CMOS-compatible technology and achieve a wafer-scale device array.

Quasi-phase-matching enabled by van der Waals stacking

Quasi-phase matching (QPM) is a well-known technique to improve the efficiency of frequency conversion processes in 3D nonlinear optical materials. Here, the authors report the implementation of nanoscale QPM in 2D 3R-stacked twisted MoS₂, showing enhanced second harmonic generation and spontaneous parametric down-conversion.

A tunable transition metal dichalcogenide entangled photon-pair source

Spontaneous parametric down-conversion in thin films should allow to realise extremely compact entangled photon sources. Here, the authors generate entangled photon pairs from a 3R-MoS2 flake, characterize them via quantum state tomography, and show how to tune between different Bell state outputs by changing the pump polarization.

Kindlin-2 links mechano-environment to proline synthesis and tumor growth

The mechano-properties of the Extracellular Matrix (ECM) are important for tumorigenesis. Here, the authors show that the stiffening of the ECM promotes translocation of the focal adhesion protein—Kindlin-2—to the mitochondria, where it interacts with the proline synthesis enzyme PYCR1, stimulating proline synthesis and cell proliferation.

Synthesis of a semimetallic Weyl ferromagnet with point Fermi surface

Van der Waals (Cr,Bi)₂Te₃, synthesized by non-equilibrium molecular beam epitaxy, is characterized by magnetotransport measurements and shown to be a semimetallic Weyl ferromagnet, with Fermi surface composed of two Weyl points and no irrelevant electronic states.

Critical role of TRPC6 channels in the formation of excitatory synapses

TRPC6 promotes the formation of synapses in a CaMKIV-CREB–dependent manner. TRPC6-expressing transgenic animals showed increased numbers of spines and demonstrated enhanced learning on behavioral tasks.

Light-induced giant enhancement of nonreciprocal transport at KTaO₃-based interfaces

Optical control is an alternative pathway to boost nonlinear transport in noncentrosymmetric systems. Here, the authors observe a light-induced giant enhancement of nonreciprocal transport coefficient as high as 10⁵A⁻¹ T⁻¹ at KTaO₃-based Rashba interfaces.
