  1. Heat days are defined as heat stress days when daily maximum temperature exceeds the heat threshold (Tmax) for each crop. Drought days are defined as significant water stress days when the Agricultural Reference Index for Drought (ARID)75 used within SIMPLE is >0.7. Simulated yields are evaluated on both grid cell and country levels, while FAO yields are evaluated only on country-level. The technology trend for both yield and indices are removed from the calculation.
  2. SIM Simulation, FAO Food and Agriculture Organization, NHD Number of Heat Days, NDD Number of Drought Days, SPI Standardized Precipitation Index, SPEI Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index, sc-PDSI Self-Calibrated Palmer Drought Severity Index.
