People with obesity have aberrantly low abundance of P. copri in their fecal microbiomes. In HFD-fed mice, oral P. copri administration increased iWAT browning and attenuated weight gain via its metabolite, succinate, in a manner largely dependent on activation of the macrophage SUCNR1-FOXM1-IL-6- STAT3 axis.
